History:
I bought “Derby Farms” in 1980 via Department of Agriculture loan, the gov was desperate to loan to women. (The program is no longer in use) It was a small quarter horse farm with an old farm house built in 1932 and a small covered arena and a few stalls. The property had been a section of a larger Washington Territorial Homestead in the 1880’s just before statehood. It is currently being considered for historical status within our county. The farm house which we live in was built in 1932 is now restored and houses my husbands fabulous Early American antique collection as does a restored out building. I named the farm “Derby” after my maternal grandparents who helped raise me as a child. My grandfather died the winter before I bought the farm. Their last name was Derby. I married my husband in 1984 and together we have built this cute little 10 acer farm. It now has a 60×190 foot covered arena and the same size outdoor arena and 23 box stalls. It is bisected by a salmon spawning stream and has its own woods and meadows. It is teaming with wildlife and birds!
Unique: It is a historic 10 acer property that is set apart by huge, glorious trees and meadows and old wonderful restored buildings. We live on the property and take care of everything ourself with the help of a few wonderful employees. I have always ridden and taught dressage and was a United States Equestrian Federation Judge for over 40 years. I have owned two wonderful stallions who helped with our small but very good breeding program for dressage. I host a German Oldenburg mare/foal Inspection yearly and myself have bred several Premium as well as Elite foals from my tiny herd of 3 mares. I am an avid gardener with a special love for roses.
